Informal, luxurious and laid back
Sharazād is a charming boutique hotel, nestling on an unspoiled stretch of beach, close to the fishing village of Jambiani on the southeast coast of Zanzibar.
Sat just back from the sand shaded by tropic forest, 12 rooms are split between the riad villa with its six bedrooms around a courtyard swimming pool, and three two-bedroom bungalows.
The bar and swimming pool open out onto the beach, while the restaurant serves up fresh fusion cuisine celebrating the island’s heritage, seafood and spices.
Depending on how active you feel, there are dozens of activities and experiences that can be arranged, from historical tours to kite surfing, relaxing dhow charters, diving and village visits.

As an eco-friendly choice, all bedrooms and bathrooms at Sharazād Boutique Hotel have ceiling fans rather than air-conditioning systems. Large windows provide cross-ventilation and a cool temperature. Solar panels, LED lights, a desalination plant and waste recycling is implemented throughout to protect the environment and support the fragile ecosystem of the area and the existing vegetation.
During construction, local materials and labor were used to assure the traditional building methods of the island, and wherever possible the impact of human activity has been reduced creating a natural and beautiful environment for guests and the team.
