In the cosmopolitan oceanfront neighbourhood of Leblon, away from the tourist crowds of Ipanema and Copacabana, JANEIRO Hotel is a relaxed luxury hotel that blends urban minimalism with a sustainable ethos.
With their cool palettes of white and wood, all 53 rooms and suites enjoy Atlantic views, but perhaps the very best vistas of the beach below, islands out to sea and forest-clad mountains behind can be taken in from the rooftop swimming pool.
There are three dining venues – Cedilha on street level celebrating southeast Brazil’s Caiçara cuisine, JANEIRO Restaurant on the second floor serving local favourites and Omokase’s Japanese tasting menu on the 18th floor.

Brazilian hotelier Carlos Werneck and artist, designer and sustainability entrepreneur Oskar Metsavaht are the creative minds behind JANEIRO and its concept 'ASAP’ concept – as sustainable as possible, as soon as possible.
With the environmental and social expertise of Nina Almeida Braga, a native sociologist and psychologist, JANEIRO is taking steps from implementing intelligent systems of central air conditioning and sanitation to reduce consumption, returnable glass bottles and a 'farm to table' concept shopping with local farmers, fishermen and small organic markets, to the recruitment of refugees in the governance team, supporting socio-environmental initiatives and purchasing decor from Brazilan artisans.
