From a very young age, family holidays focused firmly on the bush and growing up in South Africa meant access was right on our doorstep. Many of my happiest early memories are from beautiful days spent in the Kruger National Park which was always a sensory explosion: the dewy smell of the bush first thing in the morning, sticky cups of coffee overflowing with condensed milk and the sound of hippos guffawing loudly in the distance.

It seemed only natural that my career would steer me in the direction of the wilderness, and after studying journalism and a long stint with a travel publisher, I joined the safari industry wearing many different hats from PR through to sales and marketing.

Africa
is and always will be my home and I have been so fortunate to travel to many countries over the years, with Zimbabwe and Kenya ranking right at the top of my list.

One thing I’ve learnt over the years is that while it’s the animals that initially bring travellers to Africa, it’s almost always the people that they fall in love with – and who bring them back to the continent time and time again. I am so excited to part of a movement that recognises that by caring for people, in turn we can take better care of the world’s precious natural places.

This was taken on the 'Out of Africa' kopje on the top of the Oolololo Escarpment at Angama Mara, a place that will forever have my heart for the views, the wildlife but above all, the people.

A whirlwind trip through São Paulo that took us through the colourful, graffiti-filled streets - but the highlight was undoubtedly the wonderful food!

Snow will always be a novelty to a South African! This was taken on top of Mont Blanc in the French Alps.
