Tswalu Motse
A Niarra favourite. Tswalu is a vast, magical land of infinite possibility, with sweeping Kalahari vistas and a liberating sense of space.

Days at Tswalu

111,000 hectares of rugged mountains, red Kalahari sands and green grassland – the largest private reserve in South Africa – home to just two celebrated lodges, of which you will be staying in the exclusive-use Tarkuni. Add in much-lauded conservation work, community engagement projects plus a concept restaurant created by South African Michelin-star chef, and you can see why Tswalu is a very special place indeed.

Wildlife on this restored ranchland is diverse and surprising, from enigmatic predators such as lions, cheetahs and African wild dogs, endangered species like black rhino and giraffe, to rarities such as aardvark, pangolin, brown hyena and bat-eared fox. With your private field guide, vehicle and tracker, you can spend as long as you wish at sightings or indulging in your own personal interests, returning to Tarkuni to be well looked after by the host team including a chef and butler. Activities here are wonderfully varied, from safari classics like game drives and bush walks, to horse rides, ancient rock art, fabulous dining experiences, meeting meerkats and much more.

Days in Singita Kruger
Singita’s concession in the Kruger can be found in the south-eastern reaches of the national park, on South Africa’s border with Mozambique. 13,350 isolated hectares of raw, pristine wilderness where a diverse wildlife population thrives across distinct ecological zones. This area is especially well known for its remarkable concentration of the ‘Big 5’ and particularly formidable prides of lions. Explore on morning and late afternoon game drives accompanied by an expert field guide, or perhaps head out on foot to experience the bush up close with a tracker. You can also enjoy a class at the Singita Community Culinary School, indulge in a celebrated wine selection and fine cuisine or simply sit back and take in the wild.
