Overview
West Norway by private yacht
This weeklong waterborne adventure is an exciting way to discover Norway's famed fjords, sailing lesser-known waterways aboard a private yacht.
In the pretty port town of Ålesund board the historic Framstig, a rustic and trusty vessel ideal for groups. Over the next six nights, explore islands home to half a million birds, kayak under waterfalls, hike up to epic alpine ridges and visit remote fishing villages. You'll also get a night at one of the country's most iconic hotels. For those after a little more luxury, HMS Gåssten is a fine upgrade.
This is just a suggested itinerary and we can tailor charters to match your interests and fitness levels, whether you want to ski and hunt the northern lights in the winter, rock climb in the Lofoten Islands, or relax with friends and family.

Days 1 — 4
Sail the West Fjords
After touching down at Vigra Airport, you’ll be driven into the scenic port town of Ålesund. Split across several islands stretching out into the Atlantic Ocean, and is known for its Art Nouveau architecture and being the gateway to some of West Norway’s most sublime fjords. Here you’ll board your home for much of the next week, Framstig, and begin your sailing adventure.

For the next three nights, discover the island of Runde’s raucous birdlife, sail up Hjørundfjord, said to be Norway’s most beautiful, visit remote fishing villages, drink at a local pub, enjoy some epic kayaking in Sæbø and scenic trek from Trandal.
Days 4 — 5
Sunnmøre Alps hiking
Sail up the Norangsfjorden to the quaint village of Øye and the fairy tale Hotel Union, a favourite of royalty, writers and explorers since the 1890s.

Fuelled by a fine three-course dinner of local produce and a hearty breakfast, embark on a challenging but incredibly rewarding hike up Slogen, one of the most impressive peaks in Norway. Rising to a 1,564-metre summit straight up from the fjord, enjoy lunch at the scenic Patchellhytta cabin halfway up, before the final two-hour ascent and sublime views at the top.
Days 5 — 7
Back to Ålesund
Return to sea level and Framstig in the evening. The return trip to Ålesund takes around five scenic and relaxing hours, mooring for a farewell dinner in town and one last evening on the yacht.
