Overview

Explore Kenya's highlights

A classic Kenyan safari exploring stunning landscapes and iconic wildlife, staying at a wonderful selection of luxury lodges and camps that support local communities and vital conservation work.

Start in Nairobi at the famous Giraffe Manor and a breakfast shared with its long-necked residents. Then let members of the Samburu tribe guide you around their rugged homeland in the dramatic north of the country, based at a lodge they own in partnership as you venture out on bush walks, camel rides and game drives.

Next, in Laikipia’s green hills, track black and white rhinos on the Lewa-Borana Conservancy, a joint conservation success story that has made this landscape the best place in Africa to encounter these incredible animals.

End with a final three days of safari on the legendary Maasai Mara. If timed to coincide with the million-strong herds of wildebeest, you can look forward to one of the greatest spectacles on earth.

Start exploring

Days 1 — 2

Breakfast with giraffes

Begin your discovery of Kenya with a night in a green suburb of Nairobi at the iconic Giraffe Manor, a 1930s mansion set amid a woodland reserve that wouldn’t look out of place in an English shire.

Days 2 — 5

Samburu culture and wildlife

In Kenya’s rugged north, the Ewaso Nyiro River gives life to both wildlife and the cattle of the pastoralist Samburu, who give their name to this region. Staying at a lodge owned in partnership with these people, head out on game drives and walking safaris in search of lions, leopards, cheetahs and elephants as well as species only found in northern Kenya, such as Grevy’s zebras, Somali ostriches and the gerenuk antelope.

Days 5 — 8

A rhino sanctuary

South of Samburu, the rolling hills of Laikipia were once prime ranching land. Today, much of this land has been restored to its wild natural state and is a haven for endangered species. Borana and Lewa, neighbouring private conservancies that have removed their fences to create a beautiful 376 square kilometre sanctuary, are prime examples.
