Overview
Spend time in the Artic Circle
An action-packed week-long arctic adventure in Swedish Lapland – great for couples, friends and families. Based out of a lodge in a remote village and then a traditional tented camp deep in the forest, discover this beautiful wilderness by ski, dogsled, snowmobile and bike, returning to your cosy accommodation to warm up beside the fire and in the sauna.
Just north of the Arctic Circle, there is a great chance of witnessing the Northern Lights, and a night-time hot-air-balloon flight makes them even more unforgettable. December and January are dark and mysterious, with just a few hours of golden sunlight; February has more snow and full daylight, while March sees crisp, bright days.

Days 1 — 4
The Outpost Lodge
After flying into the pretty coastal city of Luleå, you’ll be driven north into the snow-blanketed wilderness. Your first stay is at a cosy former post office in the tiny village of Mårdsel, just across the Arctic Circle.

Enjoy hearty gourmet meals after days out trying your hand at ice fishing, dog sledding and snowshoeing to huts in the wilderness for local delicacies. An unforgettable highlight here is a chance to take to the skies in a hot-air balloon, silently gliding through a night lit by stars and, with luck, the glow of the Northern Lights.

Days 4 — 7
Aurora Safari Camp
Venture deep into the forest by road to an intimate camp of Lavvu tents, the traditional accommodation of choice for the region’s indigenous Sámi people. Cross-country ski, ice skate along the frozen river, explore further afield by snowmobile, fat bike on the snow, and track reindeer. Heat up around a fire or in the sauna, situated frozen in the lake, with a plunge pool for the brave.

Given clear skies, the stargazing is fantastic and another great chance to watch in wonder at the Aurora Borealis lighting up the forest. The camp’s owner is a renowned photographer and can be on hand to help you capture the moment.
