Norway

Made for adventure

The wild mountains and dramatic coastline of Norway play host to unforgettable adventures.

Carved over 2.5 million years by great glaciers, an intricate network of over 1000 fjords and nearly a quarter of a million islands give Norway the second longest coastline on earth. This has also shaped a proud seafaring culture with a deep connection to the land.

In the summer, look forward to near-endless days of exploration, whether by boat, kayak, mountain bike or on foot, with breathtaking views and welcoming people. In the winter months, relax after skiing and dogsledding as the aurora borealis dance above the water and snow-blanketed forests.

Oslo, where most journeys begin, is an eclectic mix of old and new, with excellent museums and a rich nightlife. Up the coast, find beautiful towns and fishing villages like Art Nouveau Alesund and the red timber houses of the Lofoten Islands, making use of any flat land between the peaks. Halfway between the mainland and the North Pole, the Svalbard archipelago’s tundra and icy waters are home to polar bears, walruses, whales and more.

When to visit Norway

The best time to visit Norway depends on what you want to experience. For hiking, kayaking and wildlife, the long (or even endless) days of the summer are best, while winter is for those after the northern lights and skiing. Spring wildflowers and fall colours along with fewer visitors make the shoulder seasons great too.
