Morocco

A cultural crossroads

On the northwestern corner of the African continent, within sight of Europe across the Strait of Gibraltar and flanked by the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea and Sahara, Morocco has long been a cultural crossroads.

Indigenous Berber, Arab, Spanish and French history meet here to create something completely its own.

On the coast, find vibrant cities such as Tangier and Casablanca along with relaxed fishing towns and a bohemian flair. Heading south, riad courtyards are a sanctuary from the bustling souks and maze-like medinas of Marrakesh and Fes, while ancient trade routes through the mighty Atlas Mountains lead to oasis villages and rust-red kasbahs amid the Sahara’s sculpted dunes.

Luxury Moroccan holidays offer expansive and equally diverse experiences. Spend a night under the stars at a nomadic desert camp, summit a snowcapped peak, surf North Atlantic's swells and barter for spices in an ancient medina over tea, all within a week if you choose. But to really fall Morocco’s charm, we like to take our time soaking in the vibe, meeting people and marveling at the views.

What's the weather like

When to visit Morocco

The coast enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and sunny summers. Inland cities, such Marrakesh or Fez, have hot, dry summers and pleasant winters with occasional rains. The mountains can see snow at altitude while the desert has very hot summers and cold nights in winter. Across the country, spring and autumn are the best time to visit.
