The Azores

White Suites and Villas

Overview

Traditional Azorean hospitality with a modern ethos

White Suites and Villas sits perched at a cliff edge on the island of São Miguel with panoramic views out of almost every window across the blue Atlantic.

Traditional architecture meets contemporary minimalism in a chic blend of whitewashed walls, polished concrete floors, raw wood and natural fabrics. Nine suites can be found split between the original 18th century building and modern extension, while the Villa is a private sanctuary with its own pool and secluded clifftop position. Across the road, La Maison is an exclusive use four-bedroom retreat spread over 400m² with its own gardens, swimming pool and croquet field.

São Miguel is the largest island in the Azores archipelago, renowned for its dramatic volcanic scenery, lush flora and rich marine life, all ripe for exploration with a wide range of experiences and activities.

Conservation

With the aim of maintaining the beauty of our coast, the White team devotes time to gathering debris and pollution deposited along the dark sand beach of Santa Bárbara. It is a small gesture that aims to involve the local community and alert them to this problem. In 2019, 350kg of garbage was collected from the beach.

Footprint

The property has developed an organic farming project with the goal to supply the property’s restaurant with organic products while promoting and developing an ecologically and socially responsible consumption.

The farm is divided into an area with 3 plots that makes up about 1 hectare with space for rotating crops, a production greenhouse, hydroponics and aeroponics greenhouse, composting, mandala plot and a pond.
