Serengeti

Wayo Walking Safari

Overview

Explore the Serengeti on foot

Experience the untouched beauty of the Serengeti on foot alongside highly experienced guides, staying at simple mobile campsites in areas where few others experience. A truly wild safari.

Wayo Walking Camp’s trails take you through wilderness and rhino protection zones where there are no permanent camps and no game drive vehicles. The pristine areas you’ll walk through include gentle hills and valleys with trickling streams and springs, as well as grass plains surrounded by acacia forests and dotted with kopjes granite outcrops, all home to iconic wildlife. Timed to coincide with the migration and your boots will be joined by millions of wildebeest and zebra hooves.

Depending on the itinerary, you’ll be walking from a particular campsite or point to point between a handful of them. The simple campsites and their tents are completely mobile and leave almost no footprint, moving seasonally with the wildlife. Your three-man, dome-style tent has plenty of space for two people, and the bathroom with latrine and bucket shower, is located just a short way behind the tent. Well-earned meals are hearty, to be enjoyed out in the bush and under the stars with your fellow intrepid walkers.
