South Luangwa National Park

Time + Tide Luwi Camp

Walk in the wild

An oasis set deep in the heart of South Luangwa National Park, with no other camps around for miles, Time + Tide Luwi is a rustic spot for those seeking an on-foot adventure.

Its five grass and thatch tents are nestled under a grove of ancient mahogany trees overlooking a floodplain that attracts hippos and elephants. Rebuilt every year, they’re designed to fully immerse guests in the bush experience. Each has an open-air en suite bathroom and a peaceful outdoor seating area for watching the wildlife wander by.

The main area consists of a small bar and lounge area. Daytime meals are served in the shade of the trees above whilst dinner is taken under the stars accompanied by the many sounds of the Zambian nights. Nearby, a wildlife hide overlooks a lively oxbow lagoon, perfect for photographers between time out in the bush on expertly guided walks and drives.

Community & Culture

Time + Tide are committed to safeguarding our unique natural environments and neighbouring communities for many generations to come through the support of their philanthropic foundation. The Time + Tide’s Foundation drives community empowerment initiatives across Zambia. With a key focus on inclusive, safe learning for vulnerable children, the foundation’s philosophy is simple: investing in the education of our future guardians to preserve our majestic landscapes, extraordinary wildlife and rich cultures for tomorrow. The foundation proudly contributes annually towards community, health, education women empowerment.

They also aim uplift and empower through investing in the people. Wherever possible, they employ locally and source most of our fresh produce from neighbouring communities.

The foundation also works to preserve and protect Africa’s vulnerable wildlife and habitats. In Zambia, they proudly support local conservation management organisations with anti-poaching, environmental education, human-wildlife conflict and wildlife rehabilitation efforts.

Luwi is a seasonal camp with a tiny footprint, rebuilt each year using local techniques and sustainable local materials, and is run on solar power.
