The Grand Dragon

A luxury mountain retreat

Located in Leh, Ladakh, The Grand Dragon is the best hotel option in town. Owned and operated by the local Abdu family, the family’s passion for art is reflected in the interiors. Rooms are adorned with exquisite handmade paintings by Gulam Mustafa, showcasing the artistic heritage of Ladakh.

As most guests will spend at least a full day here acclimatising to the altitude, you’ll enjoy gazing into breathtaking views of the mountains. When you’re ready to get out and explore Ladakh, The Grand Dragon is perfectly located for accessing the sites of the city.

All guest rooms have mountain views, and the suites include separate seating areas for extra space. The courtyard garden has plenty of shady spots to rest and read a book, and there are plenty of dining options to choose from.

    Guided Discovery of Leh

After spending a day acclimatising to Leh’s altitude of 11,550 feet, you'll be ready to do some gentle sightseeing of the city. There is plenty to explore in Leh, including the 15th-century monastery of Thiksey, Leh’s bustling market and the 16th-century Leh Palace. The Central Asian Museum is also worth exploring alongside our local guide.

The Grand Dragon Ladakh incorporates green architectural standards, including a European HVAC system, double-glazed windows, solar panels, and energy-efficient lighting. They practice linen reuse programmes, use non-toxic chemicals for cleaning, and have certified energy-saving electronic equipment.

Water conservation is prioritised with aerators in taps, special flushes, and a sewage treatment plan that operates even in extreme temperatures. The hotel conducts environmental awareness training for staff members and operates the only sewage treatment plant in the entire Ladakh region.
