Edinburgh

The Balmoral

Overview

An iconic hotel and clock tower of the City.

Surround yourself with Hebridean blues, heather hues and classic Scottish art at The Balmoral on Princes Street in Edinburgh. The legendary hotel and clock tower are truly symbols of the city. Affectionately known as the city’s Grande Dame, The Balmoral opened in 1902 and the old-world charm lives on. Expect Rocco Forte style and contemporary elegance as well as excellent service.

Originally the North British, the hotel occupies the best address in Edinburgh. From here you can gaze up at Edinburgh Castle and take a very short walk to the Georgian terraces of the New Town or stroll across the North Bridge to the Royal Mile.

The 168 rooms here feature a colour palette inspired by the wilds of Scotland. Think the greens of mist-shrouded moors and the purples of abundant heather, with hints of the bespoke Balmoral tartan.

Dine at Number 1 and see just why it was awarded a Michelin star, enjoy a modern meal at Hadrian’s, treat yourself to afternoon tea at Palm Court and enjoy pre-dinner drinks at The Balmoral Bar. At Scotch, there are over 500 malts to sample from the comfort of tweed sofas.
