Kruger National Park

Singita Sweni

Overview

A boldly contemporary lodge

Situated on the southeast of the Kruger National Park, on the border with Mozambique, Singita Sweni sits in a 13,350 hectare private concession of isolated wilderness.

Inspired by a playful colour palette of beetle shells, chameleons and birds' wings, Singita Sweni is a secluded river-side lodge of strikingly contemporary design that strives to leave as light a footprint on the earth as possible.

The seven sumptuous glass-fronted suites give you front row seats to the wildlife that wanders by the river throughout the day. For early morning coffees and late-night lounging, your private decking offers a unique day bed that becomes a sleep-out experience, allowing you to camp out under those beautiful African star-studded skies. An outdoor shower overlooking the river is a fine way to refresh between drives.

The concession has wonderfully varied landscapes and truly excellent animal viewing alongside professional guides and trackers. You can enjoy daily game drives, walking safaris, star gazing, photography lessons and visits to the Community Culinary School allow you to learn from the locals that deliver this incredible experience.

Community & Culture

All Singita lodges work in partnership with their local communities and aim to meet their community development goals of assisting people that live in and around the reserves to thrive both economically and socially. The Singita Community Culinary School, based at neighbouring Lebombo, aims to provide training and employment opportunities, whilst also developing the South African hospitality industry.

Conservation

Singita’s aim is to be a caretaker of Africa’s most vulnerable flora and fauna and they have committed to preserve and protect African wilderness for future generations. Large scale projects in wildlife management, protection, ecosystem integrity, sustainable tourism and community development have helped to build a model to balance tourism and conservation.

Footprint

Through their principled and forward-thinking approach, Singita have created a 100-year vision to conserve, preserve and protect the land in their care. They have partnered with Bioregional to implement One Planet Living’s values as well as working closely with Tesla and renewable energy supplier SolarAfrica to install an off-grid, renewable energy plant to help with their aim of becoming carbon neutral.
