Grumeti Game Reserve

Singita Sasakwa Lodge

Overview

A front row seat to watch the action unfold

Perched on a rocky promontory inside the 140,000 hectare private Grumeti Reserve, the stunning Singita Sasakwa Lodge offers beautiful views over a stunning tapestry of rolling Serengeti grasslands and a level of luxury rivaled by very few.

Your delightful cottage, one of 11, blend Edwardian grandeur with vast windows letting in the panorama. If the vista from your bed, fire-warmed lounge, roll top bath or private plunge pool aren't quite cutting it, spot animals below with your Swarovski telescope.

At the heart of Sasakwa is a welcoming manor with drawing room, billiards room, lounge, bar and fine dining room all resplendent with antiques, wood-paneled walls and Persian rugs harkening back to the earliest safaris. Aside from the outstanding and exclusive safari the Grumeti offers, this is a place to relax into the romance of East Africa with leisurely fresco lunches on the lawns, a few sets of tennis, magical starlit dinners and convivial evenings.

Community & Culture

The Grumeti Fund is a non-profit organization with profits put back into conservation and education for the local people who live on the edge of the reserve. While staying here, you have the opportunity to visit local communities and cultural and heritage sites, and the team at Singita Sasakwa ensures you’re able to do so in a respectful and appropriate manner. Boma dinners feature local dancers and choirs allowing you to experience the rich culture of the region. You’ll also find this culture reflected in the design and décor of Sasakwa. They also employ more than half of their staff from the neighbouring villages.

Conservation

Singita has partnered with the Grumeti Fund which manages anti-poaching teams, alien plant control, game census and reintroduction and research through the RISE environmental research facility.

Footprint

A significant number of single use plastics have already been eliminated and Singita is working to reduce non-recyclable plastic packaging even further. The short term goal is to be able to offer guests the option of offsetting their carbon emissions during their stay. They are also a One Planet Community member.
