Overview
Classic Mara
Elewana Sand River Masai Mara is a classic safari camp located within the Masai Mara National Reserve in a secluded spot enjoying views over the river to the hills and plains of Tanzania beyond.
The camp comprises of 16-tents – including one two-bedroom family set up – inspired by the classic era of under-canvas safaris. These are split between adjoining campsites, with each area having its own dining and public areas.
Right on the migration route for the millions of wildebeest, zebra and Thompson's gazelle that move between Serengeti and Maasai Mara every year on the great migration, this is a great location for being in the heart of the action, with an abundance of wildlife and plenty of big cats resident of the rest of the year.

Head out onto the famous Mara for spectacular game viewing and wildlife interactions on game drives. Community visits
The Mara is famed for is red-adorned Maasai tribe, who have lived in this area for centuries. Sand River guests can visit a local village or school and witness the traditions of the Maasai people that still hold strong today.
Footprint
The camp holds a Gold rating from Eco-Tourism Kenya for its environmental and socially responsible practices, as well as a Silver level accreditation from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The GSTC is independent and neutral, serving the important roles of managing its global baseline standards for sustainability in travel and tourism, fostering increased knowledge and understanding of sustainable tourism practices, promoting the adoption of universal sustainable tourism principles, and building demand for sustainable travel.
