Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma

Rustic riverside luxury

Sanctuary’s Sussi & Chuma is a rustic luxury lodge built amid jackalberry trees and palms on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River.

On the northern Zambian back, inside the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, a short way upstream from Victoria Falls, its 12 rustic ‘Sussi’ luxury treehouses take in wonderful views while two Chuma houses are perfect for families, each with two en-suite bedrooms, living spaces and a plunge pool.

Follow raised wooden walkways through the trees to bar, lounge area and deck, open air dining area and swimming pool. Enjoy canoe paddles, boat trips and safari straight from the lodge, with a plethora of other activities in the area.

Community & Culture

Sanctuary Retreats Philanthropy (SRP) works closely with the communities and school to determine their needs and improve their general well-being through empowerment, improved infrastructure, skill development and the overall enhancement of health, education and welfare for the future. Past projects include an ongoing school meals program to feed each child attending Nakatindi Community School one square meal a day. SRP has also expanded the school to incorporate grades 8 and 9 by building a new 1x2 classroom block, constructed a new medical clinic to serve the health needs of the community and implemented various training programs within the school and community. These include garden workshops to aid the school vegetable garden and entrepreneurship and business training for members of the community to promote income generation.
