Overview
A Tropical Island
Overlooking Lake Victoria, Rubondo Island Camp is surrounded by tropical forests and home to all sorts of exciting wildlife including chimpanzees, elephants, giraffes and 300 species of birds.
As the only camp in the wild, you can appreciate this extraordinary ecosystem without the crowds. Eight waterfront cottages use natural colours mirroring the lake and forest providing a peaceful atmosphere. Each has a terrace facing the water where you can relax and watch island life go by. All the meals here are served alfresco in the main lodge area to the sound of the lapping waves of Lake Victoria.
Spend the afternoon relaxing in a hammock with binoculars and a bird guide or cool off in the swimming pool. When the sun dips below the horizon, watch the hippo emerge from the water to graze on the fringes of camp. A stay on Rubondo is the experience of a lifetime.

Chimpanzee Trekking
Have a once-in-a-lifetime experience helping habituate the island’s chimpanzee population. As you walk through the forest tracking their progress with a knowledgeable guide, you’ll likely hear them calling to each other and they’ll hear you.

Forest Drives

Forest Walks
There is so much to see in this unspoilt forest that our guided nature walks can last anywhere from one hour to a full day. Guests can even opt to spend several days amid nature with an overnight stop at our treehouse or fly camp.

Fishing
