Situated in the north-west of Principe, within easy walking distance of the beach, Roça Sundy is a former plantation. The original houses have been carefully restored to create this striking boutique hotel, alongside old labourer’s huts which have been repurposed as local housing.

There are 16 rooms in total spread across the two main plantation houses: Eclipse which is the main house and home to the restaurant and bar, and Cacao which has a more contemporary feel. The décor pays tribute to the history of the area, with Portuguese influences paired with dark wood furniture, oil paintings, and window shutters.

With the community right on your doorstep, with much of the staff also coming from nearby, you will have plenty of opportunity to learn more about local life on the island, whether going for a stroll to explore the markets or joining them for a game of football.
