Qorokwe Camp

Overview

Delta eco chic

Qorokwe is a chic and luxurious eco camp offering a classic Delta experience in an exclusive concession encompassing over 26,000 hectares of palm-dotted floodplains, wooded islands and tranquil waterways.

A contemporary camp making the most of its spectacular setting with eight elegant tented suites, all with indoor and outdoor showers – plus one extra-spacious family unit with its own splash pool – found hidden among the tree line of an island.

The magnificent main area overlooks a lagoon scattered with water lilies with a dining space, lounge, library and bar built on raised wooden platforms and connected by walkways. The infinity pool is a focal point for the expansive views.

    Mokoros and boating

There is no better way of viewing the Delta and its wildlife than by traditional mokoro dugout canoe or boat, floating along a crystal-clear waterway as you search for painted reed frogs, kingfishers and beautiful water lilies.

Community & Culture

Qorokwe plays an important role in the empowerment of local communities through job creation and other income-generating opportunities while promoting the recovery of an area previously used for hunting, demonstrating the importance of ecotourism in more peripheral concessions.

Footprint

In keeping with Wilderness’ objective of reducing energy consumption and fuel use at all its camps, this camp is 100% solar powered, with electricity and hot water provided via solar panels and inverters. Waste water (sewage and grey water) is treated in an above ground sewage plant, ensuring that the water is clean before being allowed to enter the natural environment. In order to reduce our use of bottled water, reverse osmosis filtration is done on site to provide guests with high-quality drinking water. Like all Wilderness camps, this is managed and monitored against very strict in-house environmental standards, so only approved eco-friendly detergents and chemicals are used.
