In the far north of the Kruger sits Pafuri Tented Camp, a remote but luxurious safari experience along the Luvuvhu River.

Connected by a raised walkways and sat on expansive decks, the camp has 19 handsome tents with ensuite bathrooms featuring both indoor and outdoor shows. The tents are furnished with a combination of double and king size beds, crisp white linens and a flash of colour with lime green accents. Each tent is finished with a large private veranda with a table chairs for private dining and boasting glorious views of the river and visiting elephants, nyalas and baboons.

Relax and unwind beneath the branches of the surrounding giant trees in Pafuri’s communal areas including a bush bar, al-fresco dining area and refreshing swimming pool. Explore this wild corner of South Africa on game drives and spectacular guided walks, a real speciality of the region.

    Game drives

    The Makuleke concession is one of the few true wilderness areas left in South Africa, with the highest biodiversity in the Kruger National Park. Large herds of Elephant and Buffalo are resident most of the year round. Embark on twice daily game drives to explore the uniquely diverse scenery of the northern Kruger and its incredible wildlife that includes hippo, crocodile, eland, grysbok, lion, elephant, and many more. In the evening go on a night drive and with the aid of a spotlight see the regions nocturnally active creatures such as Lesser Bush Babies, Genets and Civets. Perhaps even come across Lions feasting on a kill.

    The bush is best explored on foot with an armed game ranger. Learn all about the smaller bush roamers of northern Kruger National Park, that are often not visible from your 4x4 vehicle.

    Makuleke Contract Park enjoys a unique birdlife of over 350 species of birds and will leave bird enthusiasts in awe, spot species such as Pel's Fishing Owl, Wattle-Eyed Flycatcher, Three-banded Courser, African Crowned Eagles and Racket-Tailed Rollers. The camp can arrange specific birding game drives and bush walks in the company of a knowledgeable guide.
