Madikwe Game Reserve

Morukuru River House

Overview

Private family safari

South Africa’s premier malaria-free safari destination, Madikwe is known for its endangered predators, varied birdlife and breath taking landscapes.

It is here that you’ll find Morukuru River House, where your personal chef, butler, private guide and tracker wait to ensure every aspect of your stay is memorable and exactly to your liking. There are no fixed schedules here, and with your own game drive vehicle on hand you can enjoy everything the region has to offer at your own pace. With three en suite bedrooms, it’s the ideal getaway for families and groups of friends of six.

In the house itself, contemporary European style blends beautifully with African individualism. Décor is minimalist with natural stone and wood echoing the surrounds. There’s a well-stocked wine cellar so your glass is never empty, a cozy library and a collection of digital entertainment.

Since it’s a malaria-free zone, children are welcome. Booster seats can be arranged. Your dedicated safari team includes an experienced guide ad tracker who can introduce your children to the wonders of the African bush.

Community & Culture

Morukuru Family is actively involved in a variety of projects in the area, mostly in Molatedi Village. Through the Morukuru Goodwill Foundation they support a local primary school and North West Park Boards which runs several conservation projects in Madikwe.

Conservation

A stay at Morukuru is all about safari with a purpose. They have partnered with the local communities to educate, mentor and empower with the aim of helping to conserve Madikwe Game Reserve, which is one of the continent’s greatest wildlife sanctuaries. Some of the projects they are involved with alongside Morukuru Goodwill Foundation include conservation work with rhinos, lions, wild dogs and cheetahs. You can get involved through Morukuru’s ‘Safaris with a Purpose’ package.

Footprint

Instead of plastic straws, Morukuru offers guests bamboo straws and toothpicks. The team also travels as little as possible in a bit to reduce their carbon footprint.
