Northern Territories

Lords Safaris

Overview

The ultimate Top End adventure

Owned and operated by Sab Lord and his wife, Ann-Maree Grant, Lords Safaris offers you an authentic, off-the-beaten-track experience with multi-night overland expeditions exploring the epic landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Kakadu and Arnhem Land.

Aboard a fully kitted out Land Cruiser and based out of both Lords' own exclusive permanent bush camp set in Kakadu National Park and a mobile set up, this is one of Australia’s best wild bush adventures.

Sab’s father was a crocodile and buffalo hunter in the area back in the 1950s. So Sab grew up in these parts and friendships he made with the locals have endured and allow you access to parts of the Northern Territory that few others enjoy. His background and journey through life have also granted him a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture which thrives here, the land and wildlife.

On his tours, he and his team share this knowledge and the love they have for this stunning part of Australia. They see you not as a tourist, but as a guest. Let Sab and his team of expert guides reveal the 'real' Australia to you through stories, experiences and astounding sights.

  • Lords Safaris Arnhem Land Kakadu 7

    Arnhem Land

This area has been home to Aboriginal people for tens of thousands of years. Only a small number of tour operators are allowed to visit at the discretion of the traditional owners. Having worked together with the people of Arnhem for the past 25 years, Lords Safaris ensures that visits to the area are beneficial to both the guests and the community.

  • Lords Safaris Arnhem Land Kakadu 5

    Gunlom Waterfall

This famous waterfall was made popular by the first Crocodile Dundee film, and its beautiful white beach and 120m waterfall makes for fantastic photo opportunities. If you tackle the challenging walk to the top, you’ll be rewarded with a swim in a natural infinity pool and gorgeous views over the South Alligator Valley.

  • Lords Safaris Arnhem Land Kakadu 4

    River cruises

Take a boat out onto rivers and remote billabongs. This area boasts an incredible variety of plants and Top End wildlife. Look out for saltwater crocodiles, jacana birds, sea eagles and buffalos.

Community & Culture

Lords Safaris works very closely with the local Aboriginal people to help protect Kakadu and Arnhem Land. Their relationship with Injalak Arts and Crafts Centre gives you the opportunity to see traditional art being made in an intimate setting and spend some time talking to the artists. Lords Safaris also employs local guides who are the perfect people to show guests around the rock art sites on Injalak Hill.

Conservation

Together with Arnhemland Safaris, Lords Kakadu is working to eradicate feral predators in the Kakadu National Park. They specifically concentrate on feral cats which prey on reptiles, marsupials and amphibians. Trapping feral animals allows the native species to re-emerge.

Footprint

Lords Safaris places great emphasis on protecting the continent’s natural and cultural environment. In addition to ‘reducing, reusing, repairing and recycling’ they try to manage their activities so as to eliminate any negative impact on the environment. The camp in Kakadu uses solar power. The tents, which are set on raised floors, are designed in such a way that you can enjoy the experience of sleeping under the stars without being pestered by insects.
