Okavango Delta

Khwai Leadwood

Overview

An Elephant Crossing

Khwai Leadwood sits on the banks of the Khwai River separating the iconic Moremi Game Reserve and the concession. Ideally located to watch hippos, elephants and even lions crossing from time to time.

Tucked under the tree the camp hosts six safari-style tents and one larger family-suite tent. The camp allows you to get in touch with nature while still offering the luxury touch that you want. The swimming pool mirrors this with wonderful views out over the river and into the bush.

Without a doubt, the wildlife here is the real highlight. Seeing great animals maneuver across the river from the deck is a special experience even for the most veteran safari-goer! Adventure and relaxation come hand in hand. Spend your days exploring the wilderness by car, boat, or foot before retiring to the deck with a crisp drink in hand.

Community & Culture

The African Bush Camps Foundation, which your stay directly supports, are committed to sustainable development, through creating opportunities that empower rural communities located in vulnerable wildlife areas in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia.

It runs multiple projects that focus on addressing challenges that include unemployment, a lack of job opportunities, food scarcity, a lack of critical skills, poor education and health care infrastructure and resourcing, low school attendance, and dropouts due to financial constraints, wildlife poaching and preserving natural resources.

In Botswana, the foundation launched a female safari guide project that is targeted at creating job opportunities for local women as safari guides and bridging the gender divide in this traditionally male dominated career through skills training, mentorship, job shadowing, and rotations at African Bush Camps.
