Overview
The Magical Mara
Built along the banks of the Mara River, Jamani House offers breathtaking views out across the Naretoi plains to the Kileleoni Hill, the highest point in the Maasai Mara.
With only five cottages it is an exquisite private house. Two cottages sit on the banks of the Mara River and three are slightly further back all opening onto the expansive lawn. The three include two king rooms and a bunk room, perfect for larger groups and families. The main area contains a cozy fireplace, open bar, and library. While the outside has plenty of space to relax and a sundowner deck ideal for watching the sunset over the Enonkishu Conservancy.
Enonkishu Conservancy is host to some brilliant wildlife including some of the world’s rarest animals, including the white rhino. Spend time exploring this incredible biodiversity on game drives or guided walks and end the day with a bush dinner. There are also visits to the Mara Elephant and Rhino Projects.

Have a go at something different! Spend the morning driving off-road on a boda boda (the stereotypical motorbike all over Africa) through the Enonkishu Conservancy, fishing for breakfast overlooking the Mamusi Dam.

A balloon safari is a fantastic way to experience the Mara from a different perspective. Soar high above the plains as you set off early in the morning. Balloon rides come at an extra cost.

Get out and get going in the bush. This when you get to see and hear some of the smaller details often overlooked on game drives. Usually you'll spend one or two hours out and about learning from a knowledgeable guide.

The lodge can easily organize a trip to the local White Rhino Sanctuary. This is your chance to get up and close to one of the most endangered animals on earth.
Conservation
Conservation fees go towards the Enonkishu, Ol Chorro and Lemek conservancies. Enonkishu means “Cattle” in the Maa language. The preface of promoting the co-existence between wildlife and livestock is essential to the long term preservation of the wildlife grazing land outside of the Maasai Mara national reserve, by building models of multiple revenue streams which builds resilience. Enonkishu manages a regenerative grazing system that conserves forage for wildlife and improves livestock management diversifying conservancy incomes.
The award winning Enonkishu Conservancy has a large density and variety of game and has become a world class conservation area, where animals migrate freely between the neighbouring conservancies. There is a resident pride of lion, plenty of leopard and elephant take refuge in the shade of the forests and browse on the branches of the trees on the Kileleoni Hill. Night drives are offered and honey badgers, porcupines and aardvarks can often be seen.
Community & Culture
The Enonkishu Conservancy, works with 50 Maasai families to protect the surrounding wildlife grazing areas so the community can earn revenue from guests as well as from their cattle, in a holistic grazing plan, where wildlife and cattle can thrive together.
With the creation of the Enonkishu Conservancy and the Mara Training Centre, money is raised through conservation fees and other community-based enterprises, to support sustainable rangeland management that allows space and resources for the people, cattle and wildlife. Enonkishu has been selected as a conservation partner with WWF, UNESCO and IHE as the pilot scheme in their regenerative rangelands project.
