In the heart of Zanzibar’s historical Stone Town, Jafferji House is a charming boutique hotel taking up residence in a lovingly restored building dating back over a century.

There are ten suites all decorated with furniture, décor artifacts, doors and carvings are genuine antiques collected from Morocco and Afghanistan to India and Mozambique.

Shared areas include relaxing lounges and terraces with views out across the old city’s rooftops and alleyways. There’s also a restaurant with ocean views where you can try Swahili cuisine infused with a continental twist and the archipelago’s spices.

    Cooking class

    The hotel's passionate local chef will teach you about the flavors, ingredients and techniques in cooking Swahili food in a domestic setting. Learn about spices, local herbs and the properties, origins and the medicinal uses as well as the infusions in food and drinks.
