Hacienda Zuleta

Overview

A historic hacienda

Discover the hidden gem of Hacienda Zuleta, a historic retreat nestled in the breathtaking Andean landscape, just two and a half hours northeast of Quito. The hacienda, built in 1691, is a captivating blend of colonial charm and modern-day luxury, surrounded by a 4,000-acre working farm. You'll find yourself immersed in a world of organic gardens, trout farms, cheese factories, and a condor-raising project, all waiting to be explored.

The hacienda offers an array of activities to indulge in, such as horseback riding through pine and eucalyptus forests, hiking or cycling, and tours of pre-Inca archaeological sites. Witness the beauty of the magnificent volcano views as you explore the high-altitude grasslands and nearby indigenous villages. Guests can relax in one of the 17 guest rooms adorned with Spanish colonial antique furniture, down comforters, and linens embroidered by local Indian women.

The hacienda's unique offerings include hand-embroidery workshops, a condor rehabilitation project, and horseback riding tours considered the best in Ecuador. A typical part of every guest's stay is a privately escorted tour of the entire farm, another gesture of Zuleta's renowned hospitality.

Take the opportunity to explore the nearby Otavalo food and handcraft market or embark on a short hike to the Cuicocha Crater Lake. Indulge in a truly unique experience at Hacienda Zuleta, where the beauty of nature meets the luxury of modern amenities, all with a touch of Ecuadorian charm.
