In 2002, the owners established a non-profit organization to in order to help young women in Costa Rica who are abused and sexually exploited. Asociacion Reaccion en Cadena por Nuestra Ninez was set up to address the existing and growing needs of this issue. Through this association, Casa Luz provides a safe environment and the necessary monetary and emotional support for these women and their children. Through the course of the program, it helps the young mothers realize that they can have healthy lives, positive social interactions and a nurturing relationship with their children. The ultimate goal is to teach them the life skills needed to achieve a productive and independent future. Casa Luz is the only program in Costa Rica that offers continued individual support to young mothers after they have turned 18.

The hotel is committed to protecting the environment and works hard to ensure all our individual and business actions leave a green footprint on the road! Employees are trained and motivated to save water, electricity and at least once a month participate in cleaning the streets of San Jose. The lodge also participates in tree planting for the employees. Through these initiatives and motivations, the employees and their families are taught of the importance of greener actions.
