Community
The hotel has always had close ties with the local community. It sources 95 percent of its produce from local fishermen and farmers. Local materials were used in the construction. El Mangroove hosts summer English camps for the area’s schoolchildren.
Footprint
El Mangroove hotel received the highest rank in the Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST) program by the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT). This recognition reflects the hotel, its team, and guest’s compromise with the local community and environment. The hotel itself uses LED lighting of low consumption, the irrigated water is treated on sight. On top of this all the furniture used within the hotel has been recycled from the tree felled during its construction.
