Duke's Camp

Overview

Under-canvas luxury

Owned by Jack Bousfield of Jack’s Camp fame, Duke’s Camp continues in the same spirit of under-canvas luxury and yesteryear charm, but in a new location: the northern Okavango Delta. The camp is named in honour of Sarefo ‘Duke’ Sarefo, the custodian of the land on which it has been built. It is situated on a 220,000-acre concession adjoining Moremi Game Reserve, home to huge herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as healthy predator populations and abundant birdlife.

Duke Camp offers nine canvas safari suites built on raised wooden decks, each with excellent views of the Okavango Delta under the shade of leadwood and ebony trees. The vintage aesthetic includes Persian rugs, plush fabrics, and hand-carved four-poster beds. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with brass fittings, as well as a private deck where you are likely to spot wildlife such as elephants and red lechwes.

The main mess area features the same old-world décor and includes a well-stocked drinks cabinet, a small lounge, and a Persian tea tent. The camp has a swimming pool surrounded by loungers – the perfect place to game-watch and unwind. You’ll be served lavish three-course meals at the huge antique table in the communal tent complete with crystal glassware, antique silverware, and of course, the Bousfield’s famous chilli relish.
