Overview
An oasis in the mountains
Surrounded by the Cederberg Mountains, Bushmans Kloof is a family-owned property set within a 7,500-hectare private reserve. The area is known for its rock art, with more than 130 sites, some dating as far back as 10,000 years. A pioneering conservation programme that has spanned well over 30 years has seen indigenous flora and fauna introduced to create a thriving ecosystem.
At the heart of the reserve is the elegant Homestead surrounded by 17 individually decorated rooms and suites with private patios overlooking the lawns and indigenous gardens. The handpicked art, antiques, and heritage furniture celebrate the history of the region.
Meals are always a celebration, with local produce from the on-site gardens taking centre stage, including innovative use of the abundant fynbos this region is so famous for. There are four swimming pools on the property – the perfect place to soak up the afternoon sun with a good book – but the main feature of the property is the award-winning spa which is exclusively open to overnight guests.
