Moroccan Sahara

Azalaï Desert Camp

Overview

Saharan chic

Surrounded by the shifting dunes of Chigaga, Azalaï Desert Camp is a traditional yet chic set up for an unforgettable night in the northern Sahara.

Getting here is part of the adventure, accessible only by off-road vehicle and some 90 minutes from where the road ends. Once here though, you’ll be enveloped in the wild silence and welcomed to your canvas tent, one of seven, spaced far enough apart for total privacy. Each are decked out with antiques, rugs, lanterns and en suite bathrooms.

Ride camels and share mint tea with nomads before gathering around the fire for a fabulous candlelit four-course dinner fusing Moroccan and French cuisine while admiring the stars. Sunrise is spectacular too.

Azalai Desert Camp 2

Footprint

From construction to operation, the camp has been designed to respect nature and reduce our environmental footprint. Azalai's ecolodges and camps are all created with people and their environment uppermost in mind. Water, a precious resource, is managed and recycled, as is waste. Local building materials were used and spaces decorated with handicrafts. Supplies come from nearby markets and our farmer friends so that almost everything is locally sourced.
