&Beyond Ngala Tented Camp

Overview

Chic Safari Camp

Nestled between the dense riverine forest and the sandy bed of the Timbavati &Beyond Ngala Tented Camp sits in a private game reserve sharing an unfenced boundary with the legendary Kruger National Park.

Chic and contemporary, the camp's nine intimate and luxurious tents, each set on raised platforms and cleverly designed to blend into the riverside trees, minimising the impact on the environment.

Elegant guest areas and pool overlook the seasonal Timbavati River and are the ideal tranquil location to enjoy a quiet book or a refreshing drink watching wildlife saunter by. Lunch is served on the deck, t poolside or on the lawn, while private dinners are served on the starlit deck or, if the weather permits, in the dry riverbed.

With exclusive traversing rights over 14,700 hectares of game-rich wilderness, encounter a spectacular diversity of wildlife such as herds of elephant, leopard, large lion prides, spotted hyena, giraffe and white rhino on expertly guided game drives and walks.

Over 200 children from Welverdiend Primary have participated in conservation lessons and experienced a game drive in Ngala, exposing them to the wildlife on their doorstep that many of them never have the opportunity to see.

Conservation

Ngala Private Game Reserve was born in 1992 out of a unique three-way partnership between &Beyond, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) SA and the South African National Parks Trust (SANParks Trust).

&Beyond leases the lands from WWF SA and pays a portion of turnover to the SANParks Trust. This money has been used to expand some of South Africa’s smaller national parks in areas with exceptional biodiversity. Later Ngala becoming the first private game reserve to be incorporated into the world-famous Kruger National Park, a model that paved the way for further private concessions within the Park.

Footprint

Sustainability practices are a daily priority at Ngala and include the elimination of plastic bottles and a focus on energy-saving initiatives.
