Overview
Luxury under canvas
Set amongst the forest at the foot of the scenic Oloololo escarpment in the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve, &Beyond’s Bateleur Camp is an elegantly classic spot right in the heart of the wildlife action.
The camp is split into two halves, each with of nine luxury tents, plus a family unit, that all feature polished wooden floors and ensuite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor stone-walled showers and a copper bathtub, as well as deck areas overlooking the vast Mara plains. You’ll also have a personal butler on hand to ensure every need is catered for.
Shared areas included refreshing lap pools and lounge areas adorned with handcrafted artefacts, fine antiques and leather buttoned Chesterfield sofas. Delectable dining by candlelight is another highlight here.

They are dedicated to providing its staff with as much information as possible to enable them to achieve freedom from poverty, malnutrition, gender inequity, stigma, HIV/AIDS and TB through its Positive Health programme. Due to the efforts of &Beyond and the Africa Foundation teams, over half a million dollars has been raised to date for clinic support, water access, food assistance, business support and school infrastructure.
Conservation
Private concessions such as this are vital for protecting the land around government protected national parks. This region, bordering the Serengeti, is special for a number of reasons. Not only does it mark the furthest northern reaches of the Great Migration, but it’s administered by the Mara Conservancy, a shining light in conservation-community partnerships in which the local Maasai communities play a pivotal role. In the last 20 years, 5,000 poachers have been apprehended and 50,000 snares removed.
